GENERAL INFORMATION

The staff for Camp Star is comprised of dedicated teachers and college students with backgrounds in various fields such as special education, art, social work, education and psychology.

New camper applicants are interviewed before admission to determine whether we can adequately meet the needs of the child.

The Camp Star program and camper scholarships are made possible through the generous support from the United Way of Westfield, foundations, local civic organizations, schools, the Division of Developmental Disabilities, private donations and fees paid by the families.  Applications for financial assistance are available and will be considered on a case by case basis with proof of income.

Campers who attend Camp Star must be able to handle their own personal needs and be ambulatory.

Campers are between the ages of 6 and 21.

Campers are divided into groups with peers of similar age range.

The camper to staff ratio is two to one.

Camp hours are 9am to 3pm, Monday through Friday, for six weeks in July and August, rain or shine.

Limited transportation to camp is provided.

For more information or to request an application for Camp Star, please contact Lauren Coakley, Recreation/Camp Star Coordinator at (908) 232-0248 or lcoakley@arcunion.org.
