Adult Day Programs - Behavioral Services
The Arc's Behavioral Supports & Services Department provides positive behavioral supports and interventions to children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders, served in the Arc's children's programs, adult residential and adult day program settings.
Our primary focus is to help teach new and positive skills to effectively change challenging or inappropriate behaviors through the use of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles. The Behavioral Department also provides services such as Behavior Support Training for Arc staff, summarizing individual's behavioral progress for psychiatrists, physicians and other treating professionals; conducting behavioral assessments, developing/training/monitoring data collection and Individualized Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs) implementation.
Opportunities Day Program
The Arc's Opportunities (Opps) Program is a behavioral special needs day program serving adults with developmental disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges. The Opps program is part of The Arc's Behavioral & Supports Services Department. On May 24, 2010, we centrally relocated our department to a renovated building specifically designed to accommodate the staff and participants.
Opportunities has three separate programs, Creative Opps, Future Opps and Unique Opps, which offer the same services, but are distinguished by the nature and depth of needs of the individuals served within each specific program. Together, the programs currently serve 31 adults.
Each Opps program provides increased staffing support and positive environments where behavioral issues are addressed. In addition, focus is placed on increasing socially appropriate replacement skills, work-related activities, communication and independent living skills.
