Adult Day Programs - Day Programs with Medical Support

Photos of Medical Day ProgramMany individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities also have significant medical needs or present behavioral challenges which preclude their participation in the Social Day Program. To meet the needs of these individuals, The Arc of Union County offers specialized day programs, which currently serve over 50 adults.

The Arc's Community Support or Adult Medical day programs may be an optimal choice for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and certain medical conditions, while the Opportunities program may be appropriate for adults with challenging behaviors which accompany their disabilities.

Eligibility and participation in any of The Arc's specialized day programs is determined by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).

Community Support Program (CSP)

The Community Support Program serves adults with multiple special needs including significant intellectual and developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory deficits and/or medical challenges.

Our services are person-centered and responsive to the needs of each individual served. One-to-one assistance with daily activities is provided to participants in a caring environment where functional skills and quality of life are emphasized.

For more information about CSP, please contact Doris Kofie at (908) 259-4990 or DKofie@arcunion.org.

Adult Medical Day Center

The Adult Medical program serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and one or more significant medical diagnoses which require nursing supervision. Each participant's health status is monitored daily by nurses. Professional support from a nutritionist and speech, physical and behavioral therapists are available on a consultation basis for the nurses.

Our program provides medical management, therapy, nutrition services, as well as recreational opportunities. Services are designed to meet each participant's medical needs and support his or her dignity, self-esteem and functional capabilities.
