Children's Services
The Arc of Union County provides a full-range of programs and services for children of all ages. Our programs include innovative therapies and educational curriculum, with all programs customized to each child's individual needs and goals.
From birth to age 3:
The Arc's Early Intervention Program, which is funded by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services, is open to any child who has a developmental delay or disability, or who is at risk for developing a delay or disability.
From 6 weeks to 5 years of age:
The Arc Bright Beginnings Child Development Center offers an inclusive, caring environment for children with and without special needs. Established in 1999 and licensed by the NJ Department of Children and Families, Bright Beginnings is committed to ensuring the best possible services for all children.
At Bright Beginnings, all staff has experience and training in working with children with special needs including autism spectrum disorders, language/ communication delays, gross or fine-motor delays. Children of all abilities benefit from a unique blend of personalized attention to each child's development along with developmentally appropriate and educational curriculums used in all classrooms.
For age 3 to 11 years:
Founded in 1963, The Arc Kohler School is approved by the NJ Department of Education and offers a full range of related, innovative therapies blended into a specialized educational program to enable each child to reach his/her highest potential. Goals for each child include striving to attain the necessary skills for a successful educational experience.
The school's curriculum provides opportunities for active learning through sensory, motor, and psycho-motor experiences and play. Each child is valued as an individual, assessed and taught according to his/her unique abilities and needs. The family is involved as collaborative partners.
Recreational Opportunities
The Arc of Union County offers recreation and leisure activities to promote physical and psychological well being, as well as a way to develop friendships, self confidence, and pursue individual interests. The Arc offers programs throughout the year, and supports over 150 people through its programs and events.
