Each summer, The Arc offers Camp Star, a safe, structured environment for children ages 6 – 21 years for six weeks in July and August. The program is designed to enhance personal and social development, language and communication skills, learning, and motor and muscular coordination. Camp Star also provides children the opportunity to participate in planned programs, such as swimming, arts & crafts, adaptive physical education, nature exploration, hiking, games, and music appreciation.

Located in Mountainside Camp has both in and outdoor accessibility. In the event of inclement weather campers can enjoy their day within a climate controlled building. Also accessible is the outdoor playground, recreational field and Echo Lake Park.

Extended school year (ESY) services will be provided to children as approved by their local Board of Education. The ESY program is implemented by a certified special education teacher, and other appropriate professional staff, and is in accordance with each child's individual education plan (IEP). This would include continued instruction and reinforcement of language arts and math skills and any other academic goals and objectives that are listed in the student's IEP.

Summer Enrichment

For children ages 4 – 10 years old, The Arc offers a structured program for one week in June and one week in August during school breaks. Children are engaged in arts & crafts, story-time, music appreciation, nature exploration, and guided play. Children are also provided opportunities to play in a fenced-in playground which provides opportunities for social interaction and age-appropriate play with their peers.

"Thank you for giving my son Andrew this opportunity to experience a safe, fun-filled, meaningful camp experience. We really appreciate everybody's time, skills, knowledge, compassion, and patience."
